Sabra Som Microphone Shock Mounts

The simple design of the SSM-1 shockmount makes using it a SNAP!
You will find an improvement in lowered noise-floor in almost EVERY recording or stage situation. Engineers KNOW that the first solution, before equalization, feedback suppression, noise gates and other audio "fixes" MUST be an ACOUSTIC solution. Acoustic improvements from using the SABRA-SOM SSM-1 are often drastic and immediate. The SSM-1 allows the live engineer to recover the low end and low-mid efficiency of the system while sourcing the true response of the mic.

Studio engineers have long known the necessity for good shockmounts in getting the REAL sound of any mic. - although the price of some manufacturers assemblies have seemed outrageous. Small project studio engineers can now have the same quality shockmounts as large studios - but for every mic and at a fraction of the cost!

Sabra Som SSM1

Sabra Som SSM1 w/ (optional)AKG 414When a microphone picks up an audio signal, It also picks-up unwanted mechanical noise through the microphone stand. This is caused by vibrations in the vicinity - the kick drum, low frequencies from amplifiers, an artist's movements, etc., etc.

It's common for people to seek an electronic solution to this problem, such as use of a noise gate, re-equalization (elimination of low frequencies), etc. Such signal manipulations interfere with the dynamics of the reproduced sound, reducing head room and degrading signal quality and "naturalness."

The SSM-1 (Universal Noise Suppressor Microphone Support) was created to meet the following premise:
For acoustic problems, acoustic solutions
.
The SSM-1 acoustically isolates a microphone from its stand, reducing noise by approximately 15dB - all at a very low cost. Correctly mount a microphone

It's versatility in mounting methods and adjustments makes the SSM-1 compatible with almost all shapes, sizes and types of microphone on the market, up to 2" in diameter.

To correctly mount a microphone, simply weave it through the parallel, high-quality, braid-covered elastic bands of each ring, two by two.

The central articulated support can be adjusted and refixed along a hexagonal rod to compensate for any imbalance in the set-up's center of gravity. For heavier mics, insert the body of the mic into the bands without weaving, to retain the elasticity.

Then, if necessary, add an additional ring to the bar, by the bottom part of the mic, and weave it around the XLR connector, thus placing the weight of the mic on 3 rings at once.

The SSM-1 attaches to many popular microphones,

Sabra Som ST2

Sabra Som ST2

The ST2, consists of two 5/8" male thread devices and one articulated 5/8" female thread support, all sliding on a 20 cm. long hexagonal rod.

This allows the mounting of two mics on the same stand with variable distance and angulation between them.

Sabra Som SPK - SABRA PROTECTOR KIT
Sabra Som SPK - SABRA PROTECTOR KIT
SPK is a set of noise suppression tools consisting of:
ST2: Universal double support with 5/8" thread.
SSM-1: Mechanical noise suppressor support.
SPF: Pop filter for hard phonetic impact sounds.

When combined together, the individual functions of the units included in this kit form a powerful studio and stage tool. The mounting options are endless, limited only by your imagination and creativity.

Due to the great variety of microphone types and sizes on the marketplace, this kit uses 5/8" thread size that is universal for audio transducer equipment attachments.
