LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – TransAudio Group, U.S. distributor of Drawmer, is proud to announce that the new Drawmer 1968 MKII Tube/Fet Compressor is now shipping.

The 1968 MKII is an update to the original and very popular Drawmer 1968. It’s a 1U Tube/FET ‘stereo bus’ compressor which by design delivers a transparent ‘open’ sound even during periods of heavy compression. Featured on both channels is a switchable ‘BIG’ or ‘BIGGER’ mode which applies less processing to the fundamental low frequency but still disciplines the upward associated harmonics which if untamed can result in a ‘boomy’ or ‘boxy’ sound. The result – a solid bottom end with enhanced sub-bass and a smoother, wider frequency response overall.

“We updated the 1968 to include two main changes: an additional side chain filter frequency and improved power supply. The previous 1968 had a Big switch representing a side chain filter at 100Hz. The new Bigger switch adds 150Hz filter frequency for letting additional bass through, and the BIg switch has now been modified to be 75Hz,” says Brad Lunde of TransAudio Group. “The 1968 is a very flexible device with its ability to run clean or warm and with varying levels between the solid state input amplifiers and tube output gain amplifiers. It also has the ability to run in stereo and the Big and Bigger switches make this compressor useful for jazz to rock music as well as dance and electronica.”

The 1968 MKII’s features include a two channel Tube/FET Compressor, two soft-knee compressors with variable threshold, attack, release and output gain, switchable BIG and BIGGER control on each channel, dual mono or true stereo link operation, side chain access and listen facility, VU metering of gain reduction and output levels, switchable +10dB mode that re-scales the meter for users working at ‘hot’ output levels, VU red warning glow to signify ‘approaching clipping’ and balanced +4dB XLR in/outs. MSRP is $1750.
