FC-1 500 series FET Compressor
Adding to the range of tools already available for the ever popular 500 Series format, Drawmer have developed two Compressors, with the same comprehensive feature set, but available in 2 different flavours according to your desired sources and tastes.
The OC1 offers Optical compression for adding smooth, warm and natural-sounding dynamic control across all audio sources. It’s Drawmer’s first Opto compressor.
The FC1 is a FET compressor, based on the Drawmer award winning 1970s series of compressors. Ideal for adding punchy compression due to its fast attack and release times
Both are single channel units (with multi-module linking available), and offer soft knee feedback compression
Alongside the familiar Input Gain, Threshold, Ratio, Attack, and Release controls, the FC1 and OC1 both offer BIG and AIR modes for adding extra richness and warmth on the lows, and more sparkle and brightness on the highs
A PGM mode switch introduces a second, slower release time in proportion to the program material above the threshold. The effect is to reduce excessive ‘pumping’ and unnatural artifacts under heavy compression
Both units offer Mix control for parallel compression, blending compressed (WET) and uncompressed (DRY) signals.
Drawmer have also added the popular CRUSH harmonic feature to both units. The effect varies with the level of input gain, and adds musically pleasing harmonics.
Comprehensive metering shows Gain Reduction, and a choice of Input or Output level on the VU meter
21-position detented (stepped) high precision pots are used throughout ensuring high repeatability and easy recall of settings
Using the dedicated Link pin 6 on the 500 chassis, the Gain Reduction of compressor modules placed in adjacent slots can be linked together using the LINK button. This feature is ideal for linking multiple channel modules.
Output Gain control allows the compressed signal to be adjusted.
To complete the feature set, a hard-wire unit Bypass connects the input directly to the output without alteration.
The units are perfect for smaller hybrid studios and Engineers looking to come out of the box and add some analogue colour to their mix at affordable prices. But with no compromise on the feature set or build quality, they are also perfectly at home in larger studio setups.
