PROCESSING

For many years, Drawmer’s quality and reliability have
made them the “go to” gates and compressors for
many major studios and live sound companies. They are affordable,
have a great sound and are built to last! They offer a wide
array of gates to fit every application. A sampling includes:
GATES
DS201 2 Channel
When this 2 channel noise gate was introduced in 1980, it redefined
the role of the gate both in recording and live sound environments.
It was the world’s first frequency conscious gate, allowing
the user to define at which frequency band and level the gate
will trigger. Gated reverb and room ambience suddenly became
possible. Drum sounds were vastly improved. Microphones on tom
toms, for instance, would no longer open with cymbal crashes.
Drawmer gates remain the unchallenged standard worldwide.
Insiders say: Every rig should have one.
DS404 Quad noise gate
A four channel frequency conscious noise gate that is perfect
for drum micing. It can be operated in “Hard” or
“soft” gate mode, hard being useful for percussion,
soft for vocals as an expander.
Insiders say: Try this gate on your drums!
DS501 Power Gate
The DS501 adds tuneable and full band “Peak Punch”
to the classic Drawmer gate. It is designed principally for
drum and percussive gating, and adds transient “punch”
to frequencies lacking in certain drum sounds. This adds greater
definition and presence to the signal.
Insiders say: put this on a snare and watch it come alive!
MX40 4channel Punch Gate
The MX 40 has a simplified frequency conscious operation, and
the addition of “Peak Punch.” Although it is not
quite as versatile as its big brother, the DS404, it still has
the great Drawmer sound and the addition of peak punch makes
it incredible for all percussive uses.
Insiders say: If you mic drums, this is a must have.
COMPRESSORS
DL251 Spectral Compressor
When a source is compressed, it takes on a darker quality, since
the high frequencies tend to get buried by the other energy
in the signal. This is not always a desirable effect, especially
in live sound situations. The DL251 features an “enhancer”
that applies a dynamic boost to the high frequencies that is
directly related to the amount of gain reduction taking place.
The result is that vocals remain intelligible, instruments maintain
their “airy” quality, and the overall mix is more
present.
Insiders say: This is a perfect compressor to make singers sit
right in the front of the mix, without losing a bit of intelligibility
or airiness.
DL241 2 channel Auto Gated/Compressor/Limiter

The DL241 is a fantastic compressor for quick setup, and where
inconsistent or unpredictable dynamics make manual control impossible.
It features auto or manual attack and release times, and a variable
threshold adaptive gate.
Insiders say: It is a great tool for bass guitar or for vocals
when used in Auto mode.
DL441 Quad Auto Compressor Limiter
The DL441 has four channels of the same great compression as
the DL241. It’s very useful for situations where multiple
mics are in use—such as when a drum kit is being miced.
DL651 Sixpack
The world’s first multi-dynamics processor for surround
mixing is also extremely useful for live sound! It has six independent
gates and compressors with “zero overshoot” limiters
with the ability to link channels individually. For surround
applications, channel six has the option to switch in a 120Hz
filter to create an LFE channel. All this makes it a great tool
for surround mastering, drum processing, multiple vocals, or
surround speaker protection in live clubs.
SPEAKER PROTECTION
The Drawmer SP2120 Speaker Protector eliminates the possibility
of "unauthorized" sound pressure levels, preventing
the noise level from exceeding limits you set, protecting speakers
(or ears!) from damage. This also lowers costs by reducing service
calls, downtime, and consequential loss of venue income.
The SP2120 is inserted before the amplifier stage. Its signal
path combines multiple time constant and automatic gain control
circuitry, which allows small overloads to sound louder (even
though they¹re not). The protection circuit is transparent
to the ear, maintaining the specified volume level without degrading
the sound quality-- even during heavy protection processing.
There are just two adjustments: calibration for the 16-segment
L/R bargraphs, and the volume ceiling. The front panel of this
1U, 2-channel processor has a keyed security lock, so only authorized
key holders can adjust the maximum volume level.
Contractors, DJs and club owners will sleep better knowing their
systems are protected.
